Cielo Abierto Ministry

Cielo abierto means "open heaven"

Meet Pastor Oscar and Carolina Obando

Pastor Oscar (originally from Honduras) and Carolina (originally from Columbia) had a vision of starting a Hispanic outreach in Waynesboro. Pastor Oscar kept driving past 2910 West Main Street, for reasons unbeknownest to him at the time. He decided to attend a service at Valley Covenant to see what God was up to.
As soon as he entered the sanctuary, he felt the strong presence of the Holy Spirit.  When Pastor Jerry Steele met Pastor Oscar, he told a church leader that there was something special about Oscar and he felt God was doing something. That day, Pastor Jerry invited Pastor Oscar to pray in his native language for the congregation. It was then that Oscar knew that this is where God had led him to begin a Hispanic ministry in Waynesboro.
Just a few weeks later, on December 17, 2017, Pastor Oscar and Carolina Obando had the first Cielo Abierto service at Valley Covenant Church, Pastor Oscar and Carolina's new church home. From the very first service, the Holy Spirit has been moving in a mighty way and it is apparent that God is unfolding something very special with this new ministry!
